August 14: Chichibu Ondo Festival

Every year on August 14, the “Chichibu Ondo Festival” is held in the town where the Chichibu Ondo originated, and approximately 800 fireworks light up the night sky. The Free-Style Dance and Traditional Processional Dance Competitions attract numerous participants from throughout the town and the prefecture. As the authentic Chichibu Ondo echoes through the shopping district and the mountains, the venue is filled to capacity with waves of participants and spectators.

Highlights
After the competition ends, the star mine and rapid-fire large fireworks launched from Mt. Utsukushi will light up the summer night sky and further enliven the festival.

The “58th Gokan Bon Chichibu Ondo Festival” will be held on Friday, August 14.
